CIBC Aero Classic VISA card credit card reviews

CIBC Aero Classic VISA card credit card details and credit card application link.

The CIBC Aero Classic VISA Card provides all the benefits that go along with other CIBC credit cards plus one magnificent extra - 2,500 free Aeroplan miles the first time you use the card, a form of a welcome present. Clients get one mile for every two Canadian dollars charged to the card. Free miles come with all purchases made with the card, but miles are not earned on cash advances, fees, convenience checks, balance transfers, and interest payments. Make sure the status of your account is good on the monthly statement, or else your hard-earned miles may be cancelled. In fact, the word “miles” is a bit misleading here. These miles are actually points that you accumulate and get rewards for certain set amounts.

One point that is unique about the CIBC Aero Classic VISA Card is that even if you do not use it for one year, you will not lose your miles. If you charge dinners or stays at participating CIBC Rewards locations, you earn points/miles as well – in fact, you receive up to double the amount.

The credit limit here starts at $500. Those who wish to sign up for the card must have a minimum household income of $15,000. The annual fee is $29, and the annual interest rate - 19.9 percent. This rate is liable to change but if this happens, clients are informed at least 30 days in advance. You can also receive up to three free additional cards.

Basically, this financial product is suitable for all those who want to accumulate points on everyday card spending. Note that the “welcome gift” of 2,500 free miles is not compatible with any other card offer and only new holders are eligible. If you convert another type of card to the Aero Classic, you will not get these miles. You become eligible after the first purchase you charge to this card. The offer may be revised or retracted at any time.

The number of rewards earned varies from location to location. The rewards benefit is not compatible with other offers. Additional benefits featured along with the Aero Classic include an online expense report, a personal spend manager that helps you track expenses, a monthly statement detailing your monthly expenses, spending alerts given after transactions are posted to your account, credit report alerts detailing important changes to your credit report, and fraud alerts about illicit use of your card.

The American Express AeroPlan Plus Card is a similar product but comes with different features and benefits. The credit card goes with an annual fee of $499, interest rate of 30 percent, and welcome bonus of 15,000 points. Card holders earn up to 1.5 miles for $1 in purchases, and flight rewards can be redeemed for hotel stays, car rentals, dining, fashion, home, entertainment, and spa gift cards, home décor and small brand name appliances. The Aeroplan's ClassicPlus Flight Rewards gives clients access to all available seats on Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada. Additional benefits include Front of the Line service and Reserved Seating. Eligible applicants are Canadian residents who have credit files, are of the majority age in their territory or province of residence, have not declared bankruptcy in the past seven years, earn $60,000 or more, and make their payments in a timely manner.
