BMO Gold AIR MILES MasterCard credit card reviews

BMO Gold AIR MILES MasterCard credit card details and credit card application link.

The BMO Gold AIR MILES MasterCard is ideal for people who love to collect reward miles and make purchases with them. This financial product is suitable for practically everyone since air miles can be used for a huge range of products: flights, hotel reservations, entertainment events, electronic gadgets, gardening tools, household goods, sports equipment, and many others.

The greatest advantage of the card is that it offers one reward mile for every $15 in card purchases that you make (you can double that amount if you use the card at the outlets of Shell, National Car Rental, and Alamo Rent A Car). With the BMO Gold AIR MILES card, you also get exclusive 25 percent price discount on AIR MILES flights all over the world and 25 percent discount on AIR MILES My PlanetTM rewards. Another advantage of the card is the BMO Travel Protection feature, which includes, among others, the Collision Damage Waiver for car rentals. In addition, if you bank with BMO and maintain a daily balance of at least $5 000, you can also accumulate up to 1200 reward miles per year.

The annual fee for the card is $99, and the interest rate stands at 19.5 percent. However, if you are willing to pay extra $35 a year, you can reduce the interest rate to 12.9 percent. This is a much better rate than the 19.99 percent, which American Express Air Miles offers (in fact, if you have any missed payments, AE will charge a rate of 21.99 percent to 25.99 percent). Moreover, with the BMO card you also get 21 grace days, a feature that AE does not offer.

Because the BMO Air Miles card is a MasterCard, you can also avail yourself of all general MasterCard features: acceptance at more than 30 million locations worldwide; chip protection against unauthorized use of the card; MasterCard PayPass, which allows you to make small purchases much quicker than usual by simply tapping the card on the swipe machine; and Zero Dollar Liability, the program that protects you if your card is used without your knowledge or authorization.

Optionally, you can also get BMO MasterCard® Balance Insurance, which protects the balance in your card (for sums up to $15 000) as well as your family in case of unexpected events. As a holder of the BMO Gold AIR MILES card, you can use the BMO Total Travel and Medical Protection (at a fee of $99.00/year), which will provide full insurance coverage for your trips within the country and abroad.

The President’s Choice Financial MasterCard is a good option to this credit card, going with no annual fee, interest rate of 19.97 percent, and grace period of 21 days (in comparison, RBC Visa Platinum Avion is offered with a grace period of just 17 days). This financial product is a standard type of MasterCard with a minimum credit limit of $1000. The good news is that there is an introductory balance transfer rate for the first six months, standing at 0.97 percent. Other benefits are extended warranty, travel accident insurance, Road Insurance, and Balance Protection Insurance. With the Balance Protection insurance plan, card holders pay a monthly premium of $0.99 per $100 of their outstanding balance. The maximum benefit is in the amount of $15,000, and the age to qualify is 70 or younger.
